Jungle Baby Shower Cakes

The jungle is lush and teeming with life today. There are so many ways to decorate our baby shower with this lively theme. For now, however, let’s focus on that special item - your cake! We’ll help you dream up some awesome ideas for that jungle baby shower cake. Everything from a gaggle of amazon animals to pregnant mommies having a jungle safari.

Whether you plan on covering your cake in butter cream frosting, whipped cream, or fondant, you’re going to have a blast putting this one together. Be sure to have plenty of icing, gum paste, fondant, or anything else you may need to draw or sculpt the ideas and pictures you want to convey.

If you’re decorating using conventional frosting techniques, then your base colors should be a variety of green colors representing the lushness of the jungle. Light to dark rich green icing and frosting should be generously layered. Then draw out tree limbs and vines using brown and more green icing. Sketch out all your animals before you put them on the face of your baby shower cake. Draw out spider monkeys, jaguars, anacondas, and as many brightly colored insects as you can. Of course this is a baby shower so make sure all your creatures are on their best behavior and sporting their pearly whites for all the cameras.

If you’ve had some experience with more modern 3 dimensional fondant and gum paste decorations, then try putting out something a little more daring. Sculpt plenty of green trees, bushes, ferns, and vines and link them all together in complex arrays that represent the fullness of the jungle. Craft a troop of gorillas and have dad taking a picture of pregnant safari mommy standing in the midst of them all. Mold a few dastardly villains of the amazon skulking in the shadows watching it all. An alternative to this scene could be mommy holding baby and all the animals coming to behold the baby in her arms.
