Cowboy Baby Shower Cakes

Howdy do partner? Git ready to round up your cake making utensils and prepare your vittles to have all the ingredients for your cowboy baby shower cake.

Before you set the temperature on your oven, you’ll want to decide what kind of cake you want to make. Will it be a giant cowboy hat? A pair of Texas sized boots? Will you have a green pasture cake with some cowboys rounding up the little dogies (that’s baby cows to you city slickers)? Whatever you decide, be sure to make a list from the mental image of your cake before you begin. If it helps to sketch out your cake first, then do that first. Write out the colors of fondant, frosting, icing, or gum paste you’ll need.

I’ll describe the steps you need to take to make that cowboy round up scene.First carve away parts of your cake to give it slopes, hills, and dells. then play out a layer of green fondant for the grass. You’re cake may have a stream rolling through it. If it does, lay out a curvy strip of blue, carefully spray on some white whip cream to make it foamy here and there. Stick a few speckled brown jelly beans in the river as stones. Stick the stones in places where you used the whipped cream. Add a few wooden fences around the cake made from gum paste. now mold half a dozen cows, a couple of horse, and two or three cowboys. With a little practice, you’ll by creating the cutest little edible figures. Just be sure not to accidentally pop Wild Bill in your mouth if you get the munchies.Add a big red barn if it strikes your fancy and a few bales of hay made from gum paste.

If you’re working with frosting and icing, then all this can be done in a 2 dimensional format. Just draw out your cowboy scene ahead of time then copy it onto your cake using all the colorful icing and frosting you can muster. Add your baby’s name in a special message on the barn or across the meadow for the finishing touch.
