Baby Shower Invitation Etiquette

Baby Shower Invitation Etiquette

Preparing your baby shower invitation doesn’t have to be a daunting task. You need to know proper baby shower invitation etiquette for your modern baby shower. Before you lick your first stamp, be sure to know how to fill out those wonderful invitations so that you can have as many guests as possible attend your baby shower.

Who – You will most definitely need to include the name(s) of the honoree(s). Depending on whether or not you know the gender and name of the baby, you can also include it on the invitation. Also, include the name(s) of the host(ess). This will make it easier for your guests to know how to ask for when they arrive.

Be sure to include the exact address for the location where you are holding the baby shower. If possible, try to include a small map or directions on a separate smaller sheet of paper if the location may be difficult to find. Your baby shower may be at a public place such as a restaurant or church. If this is the case, be sure to include any special instructions your guests may need to know. (Example: Park in the rear and enter through the side (south) door.)

The baby shower should be held at least a month before the due date but after the latter part of the second trimester (around the 5th month of pregnancy). The invitations should be mailed out 2 to 3 weeks before the date of the baby shower. This will give your guests ample time to prepare or reply. You may want your guests to RSVP, which is a formal way of asking them to let you know if they will attend or not.

You can use some of the following phrases when asking your guests to RSVP: Please RSVP by ________(date)_______ Reply with regrets only (this is if you want your guest to let you know only if they are NOT going to attend)If you expect your guests to RSVP, be sure to include a self-addressed stamped envelope for their convenience. Most, if not all guests, will “conveniently” forget to buy a stamp or forget to call to get your address, so make it as simple as possible for them to let you know they are coming. If you still need more help preparing and designing your baby shower invitations, be sure to visit our well respected affiliates here.
