Baby Gift List
Is it absolutely necessary to write a baby shower gift list? Seems kind of time consuming to me.

Of course it isn’t absolutely necessary to write a baby shower gift list, but then again it isn’t entirely necessary to do anything “fun” for your guests either. We strongly recommend writing your gift list on the spot as your mommy-to-be is opening her gifts because if you wait until later the chances are you will not remember who gave you which gift.
There is nothing more embarrassing than writing a thank you card to your guests and not being able to remember what gift they gave you. The best case scenario you’ll have to include a generic message like, “Thank you for your gift.” This really isn’t as bad as thanking your guest for the blanket they gave you only to find out later that they actually gave you bath toys!
So, the moral of the story is that, in order to save yourself the headache of trying to match the gift to the guest, it’s always best to have a friend or relative with legible writing sit next to mommy-to-be and quickly jot down this information quickly and as discreetly as possible.
Another alternative method that isn’t as reliable is to simply have some premade cards with your guests names and drop them carefully into the bag or box the gift came in. The trouble with this is that it’s easy to misplace the card or accidentally put more than one gift into the same bag so be extra careful if you decide to do it this way.
